My expectations for 2021

When it comes to think about my expectations for 2021, I think the first one that comes to my mind is a year more chilled and without all the unexpected events 2020 had. Since a pandemic of coronavirus has happened all over the world, we've been most of the year in lockdown, which caused that all the things planned didn't go as they were supposed. In my case, some of them were my freshman year in the Universidad de Chile and all the ideas I had to hang out with my family and friends throughout the year, which were ruined because of the pandemic.

Another expectation I have for 2021 is that cases of coronavirus decrease in a significant way, only having low numbers of them. Also regarding coronavirus I hope scientists find a vaccine that will prevent the virus from spreading across the world again, but in order to accomplish the changes and advances we all have been waiting for I think next year people should be more aware of the importance of  health measures.

Furthermore, as I mentioned before this year I started my freshman year at university, it has been difficult to adapt to online modality, whose schedules are different than I expected, and also the way of communicating with the other classmates changes because all the meeting we have are online and we usually do not see each other faces. So what I'm hoping for next year is having the oportunity to go to the university in-person and being able to meet new people and hopefully make some friends.

I also mentioned that I haven't been able to see my family and friends as usual as I did before the pandemic happened. However, we organized virtual meetings via online platforms, such as Zoom and Google Meet to stay in touch as much as we can. Related to this topic, I hope I can see my family and friends more often next year because it is very different to see someone behind a screen than face-to-face. Moreover, I hope 2021 would let me leave my house more times than 2020 did, so I can have family trips or I can go visit my cousin and her family, they live near Viña del Mar, and I think it would be nice to enjoy spending time on the beach next summer.

To sum up, 2020 has been a difficult year, but I have been able to make it work, thanks to all the people I had met during this time and my family, so hopefully next year is full of good suprises and opportunities that 2020 did not have. See you 2021!
